The satellite dish made for your car has arrived. KVH Industries has designed the “TracVision in-motion satellite TV system, ” a dish package for backseat entertainment system-equipped automobiles (e.g., SUVs, luxury cars, and minivans) that will provide 300 DirecTV television stations as well as 50 channels of commercial-free radio. The monthly cost for the service is expected to be less then US$10 a month. Future plans for the dish include the ability to provide high-speed Internet access. The price for the satellite system will be between US$2, 000 and US$2, 500.
The system should be available from consumer electronic retailers in the second quarter, since KVH plans for commercial delivery then. DirecTV and KVH still must work out a revenue-sharing agreement.
BRIAN'S OPINION
It's official. Once the satellite dish is available for my car I'm selling my house and moving into my wheels. After all, once KVH provides the high-speed Internet access I will have everything I need to stay happy. Sure, the wife and kids won't like it, but last time I checked DirecTV still had Cartoon Network. Okay, enough of my delusional thoughts.
What a great thing to have on long car trips, especially with the kids. Even higher on the “cool” factor is the ability the satellite offers to be able to listen to CNN while driving in your car. A person can sometimes only take so much of National Public Radio.
Honestly, the US$2, 000 price for the system will probably put it out of my price range, unless I were single. Nevertheless, what a great innovation! What I definitely liked the most was the idea of having only a US$10 a month subscription fee. It almost makes you wonder if you could figure out a way to bring the satellite signal from your car into your house and save a few bucks on your satellite or cable bill every month.

Thats just what we need
Good for Truckers
After a long day of driving, it would be nice to watch some Porn in the sleeper cab before going to sleep.

I got it…………
Now all they have to do is put a friggen toilet inthe back of those big ass overhyped SUVs and you wont need to buy a house. You can live out of your truck. Seriously, pretty soon mobile homes are gonna be 'mobile' again. They will just put them on the frame of a kenworth and there you go. But I bet Cadillac will make the ultimate off-road mobile home with leather trimmed windshields, chromed out doors, gold-plated stoves, and on 'I got dem 30's rollin liek a bent yo' rims.
Honestly, I thought that a car was for transportation. You go from point A to B. Comfort is good, but come on, who can't wait long enough to watch TV, especially 300 channels?
If it is the kids that need to be kept quite, I got a $7.99 trick for you. Just put a little peppermint schnapps in their hot chocolate, they will be out in no time. – by SUV+Mom+Cell=DEATH

Hahaha… that is a really great idea!
I'll have to remember that when my wife and I have kids someday. – by JJ
Great for that…
RV! Better than a map of the U.S. with stickers for the states. And if you have a $250, 000 for a cherry RV, the $2, 000 for this puppy is nothing.

What would Jesus drive?
“In an effort to influence the transportation choices of their congregations, the Pennsylvania-based Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) launched a campaign in November called “What Would Jesus Drive.”
They have partnered with the National Council of Churches and the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life to encourage the development of fuel-efficient cars by the automobile industry and to urge faithful members to buy cars that pollute less and are environmentally friendly.”
